Wrapping up the Stone Arch Bridge Festival

A band was just setting up to play when it was time to leave.  I didn't even get a chance to hear them play or get their name.  But, I liked the beards and the glasses!

And, I watched their drummer fall off the back of the stage while they were setting up.  He was right on the edge and as he slid his stool back, over he went.  He wasn't injured.   But, the band thought it was pretty funny!

Thanks guys!

Stone Arch Bridge Festival: An Amazing Young Artist

When I go to events to take photos, I have the opportunity to meet with dozens of talented people.   People who have talent that I will never have.  And, I always consider myself lucky to have these conversations.

Once in a while, someone really hits a home run with me.

Meet Will Western.

This young man had some phenomenal prints. He had a great series of sports prints.   But, he wasn't limited to that, either.   Not only that, he was the nicest guy.  We had a great conversation!

For a look at his work, click here

Thanks Will!

Stone Arch Bridge Festival: And the Rennaissance Fair

Meet Minrod

And meet his lovely daughter, Miranda!

Both were in period costumes for the Renaissance Fair.   I need to give them credit, it was warm and a bit humid.  And, those costumes were warm!   They were sitting in the shade trying to catch a breeze to cool down.

My thanks to you both!

Stone Arch Bridge Festival: Jewelry Artist; Consume to Survive

Meet Leha!

She runs a company called Consume to Survive.  She makes jewelry that supports feline wild life.

From her website:
Consume to Survive
Light reactive pin-up & propaganda earring and necklace designs laser etched into clear acrylic with sterling silver & stainless steel components.
Survival is based on consumption patterns in the wild and urban metropolis. Like a member of the large cat felidae family, we are obligate hunters, consuming fashion and jewelry like iconic predators.
Pin-up sets are sleek with prowess.
Propaganda pieces resemble inspiration for change.
Soft velvety paws become a formidable weapon.
5% of all Consume to Survive profits donated to the Wildlife Conservation Society that works to prevent illegal killing of wild cats, ensuring any hunting of big cats’ prey species is legal and sustainable, reducing conflicts with humans, and ensuring connectivity between populations.

Thanks Leha!   It was my sincere pleasure meeting you.

Stone Arch Bridge: A REPEAT for Paul

I didn't show some of Paul's amazing wood sculptures.   Paul does beautiful work in wood...both just the grain and laminate colors blending together in a natural form.

I very much liked his work.

So, for a repeat from last week, here's Paul!

Thanks Paul.   Beautiful!!

The Stone Arch Bridge Festival: Sculptor!

Meet Paul!

Paul didn't start out to be a sculptor.  But, over his career teaching in a college setting and working in a medical library, he was able to travel to South America where he first caught the ideas of motion.

His work is featured across the Midwest.

For more on Paul, check out his webpage at:  www.OlsonArts.com

Thanks Paul.   It was beautiful work!

Stone Arch Bridge: The Woodie!

I must admit an affection for older cars.  I know a lot of people invest a lot of time and money with them.   And, I have often wondered why someone is drawn to a specific car.  I suspect there is something in their past that makes that car....magical.

I don't have that feeling.  But, I do see some cars as eye-catching.   And, I can appreciate the work that people have extended to get those cars to a finished, and "show-ready" state.

I really liked the car below.

Looks like a "Woodie" to me!  Let's see...shades of the mid 60's in Southern California.

Maybe I can feel the mystique!

Metal Artist at the Stone Arch Bridge

Meet Jim!

He worked in metal.  Below is his card.  Note, it is metal.   And, it is imprinted with a cattails piece that he created.    To say I was impressed, was an understatement.

He was delightfully funny and happy.   I had a great chat with him.

Thanks Jim!

Went for a Walk

I have been horribly remiss in updating my blog.  I try to get posts out Monday-Saturday.   But, the last few weeks have been challenging in terms of my schedule.  So, I went for a walk.

I am fortunate that within a 4 mile circuitous route, I can see farmland.

Woods.

All manner of wonderful plants.

And, water.

These may make a return appearance in the blog about January.
