I have always though German Shepherds were beautiful dogs.  And, while many can be trained to be guard dogs.  I've seen many that were kind, gentle and loving.

Meet Ken (in the blue) and Rider (the hairy one!)

Rider was a ham and couldn't wait to climb up on Ken's lap for a photo.
